LAYTON - Nolan W. Horton , 63, passed away October 3, 2004 at LDS Hospital due to complications from Chrons disease.
He was born November 1, 1940 to William G. and Pauline Altstatt Horton in Seminole, OK. He grew up with two brothers and one sister, Walter (Loureen) Horton , WA; Paul (Sheri) Horton, CO and Marilyn (Fred) Wolsterman, AK.
He married Virginia LaBranch on August 10, 1963 in Rapid City, S.D. They had three daughters, Charlotte (Ross) Graba, MN; Holly (Karl) Pernich, No. Ogden, UT; and Heather (Steve) Rogerson, GA.
Nolan worked in training devices at Hill Air Force Base and Rivit Mile in Rapid City, S.D. He was a member of the Free Mountain Trappers. He enjoyed making leather clothing, fishing, hunting gardening and working with his hands. He was a true outdoorsman. He was involved in girl scouts for 10 years when his daughters were younger.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, his brother and sister, six granddaughters and two grandsons. He is also survived by his two cats, Boo Kitty and Pumpkin. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul.
All Nolans friends are invited to come in traditional Mountain man attire for all services.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 9, 2004 at 11:00 at Myers Mortuary 250 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, UT. There will be a gathering of friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 at the mortuary.
Everyone is invited to attend a Remembrance Gathering and luncheon at Fort Buenaventura, 2450 A Avenue, Ogden following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Leid Transplant Center; c/o University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
